A very good resource. It's important to note it shouldn't be considered a straight-jacket -- it's not rules that must be followed but guidelines you can adopt, if helpful to you. It's clear and well considered.

Most useful to make sure everybody is on the same page. Also to make sure the GM doesn't inadvertently introduce something that offends or disturbs a player.

Exactly what the gaming community has needed for a long time, and I'm thankful for the good it's done at my tables.

An absolutely fantastic (AND FREE!?!?!) product that was so needed in the #TTRPG-verse. I use this product regularly, especially when running horror games.

Consent and approval on everything is the poison of free thought, debate, philosophy, logic and good. It is the oppression of truth and right. It is the world-wide psyche that will hopefully end when the absolute truth of good is rediscovered by those few sane minds, then these populist evils will hide, in shame of the things they have done, if any shame, dignity, belief or justice remains in the world, not fed to the absolute freedom for everything evil.

People with proper minds, stay away from these promotions of new age evil and the companies promoting them. I will sure be more careful of bundles and offerings, they are slipping these current affairs and political manipulation products inside them.

The fact that so many of the other reviews react so agressively to this book is in itself proof why it's needed. Apperently, empathy is in short supply among far to many dudes. And yes, it's almost always dudes going ballistic over things like this.

Let me just level with you. If you believe that "its the players responsibility" to say no to something in front of everyone or to opt out of a campaign where you go out of your way to provoke a response - then youre not a good GM, you're an edgelord. This is a useful tool for ANY GM. Its not about "saying no" to offensive themes, its about clearing the air about certain things and giving the group a common line to go along in terms of content. I run a Cyberpunk campaign WITH this product as a backbone for narrative structures and its every bit as dark and "edgy" as everybody elses games, even with the caveat that some topics are out of the question.

I actively promote the use of consent guidelines. The game is more fun if we all agree and this product is a way to ensure that everybody understands where and to what extent the line is. Dont fool yourself about being able to "read" your players, youre not that good - and if you are, then you've probably played with the same people for years and years. In these days of ever changing groups and random "hook ups" - its very useful to have a quick way to agree on thematic do's and dont's.

Its not PC. Its common sense.

It's an incredibly useful tool for any session zero, and a must if your campaign frequently touches on topics that could be potentially painful or damaging for players.

EVERYONE SHOULD READ THIS. this is an essential document for literally anyone playing RPGs ever. fundamentally RPGs are bsed in social contracts, which in turn rely on consent. Thus everyone should understand what that really means and what's involved in it. Even if no one will ever use it, simply having safety tools makes every table better. The concepts here are explained comprehensively and understandably. I love it. As the book explains, and as some reviewers don't get, it doesn't matter how close you are with someone, establishing clear boundaries is key to any relationship, and it doesn't matter how close you are with someone, if you cross a line that's never good. No one has "no limits." You don't have to change any of the content in your game! this is literally just saying that you should get your fellow players consent (that includes GMs too) before including something! We play games to have fun. And thus we should only be doing things we want.

What's really needed is just a paragraph or two in the Gamemastering section or DM Guide about reading the players and knowing if/when to avoid things that appear to bother them. If a player is uncomfortable and the dm doesn't respect that, they should just find a different group or dm. WWGGD (What would Gary Gygax do?)

Excellent product for those that wish to help make their games safe and inclusive for everyone.

I would give it 6 stars if I could, just from the enjoyment of reading the ridiculous comments that somehow think respecting peoples feelings is ruining gaming.

Very useful and helpful, conveys the basis despite the short format. On the downside, the checklist seems to be protected. It would be nice to have a fillable version.

The controverial nature of the content is presented in a format that seems presumptious and arrogant. The content is good advice for conversations that should be held in home games. I can see some application for this at conventions, however, that is how descriptions of tables should be used for individuals to decide whether the material is suitable for them or not. When media becomes policed we get dangerously close to infringement of 1st Amendment rights.

If you require a book to talk about things that bother you, then you shouldn't be playing a tabletop with adult themes in it. If you are playing in a game where people are discussing topics that make you uncomfortable and you can't talk to the GM about it, then find another group.
