The idea is good, but the scans of the stat blocks are too blurry to read, at least to me, for me to use at the table. If the the cards were more clear, this would be excellent for printing off and adding sidekicks to a player.

Thank you Paul for the Critique. I had a tough time deciding if I should use the stat block or a standard tent sheet. Since the kit included the Character Sheets and Tokens for the Players, and the Essential Kit includes a one page guide to all sidekicks, I really only foresaw the tents part as a place marker for initiative. I will update them to include an additional tent option that uses a standard Webb Pickersgill Format for version 1.20 which will be free for any verified purchasers. Please note: This is a support pack and not meant to be all you need, or a replacement for, The Essentials Kit. The Essentials Kit comes with Side Kick Cards that are meant for the DM to use, but nothing for the players to really use. I am always open to comments, concerns and requests for improvement on any of my products. Thank you for your feed back.

This is a set of 9 character "tents" to represent the new sidekick NPC in D&D Essentials. Each page has 3 copies of a sidekick type (expert, spellcaster, warrior) and one blank. Each set of 3 sidekick tents are the same (showing the "monster block" pretty much exactly as it is in the Essentials kit.) The only difference is that art is supplied on one side of the tent and both sides show a name (Quinn Hightopple - for example.)

I like the art, it is a sort of muted watercolor style that doesn't scream out at you "THIS IS MY CHARACTER" wich is fitting for an NPC. Included with the set is a zip file of tokens to use along with the tents. These tokens use the same art as the 9 sidekick cards and would import very well into any digital platform (like Roll20, etc...)

A couple of things caught my fancy. Each page has a black sheet (no art or stat block.) It would have been easy to copy the stat block but leave the art blank, thus a player could make a tent, name the NPC and add on some art if they want. On that Since this is a PDF, I don't see the harm in including a second version of it without the names. I might like the art, but want to give my own name to the NPC. It's nice to have suggested names, but I'd rather not be forced into them.

Finally, I see a missed opportunity here to add something beyond just a reformatting of what has gone before. There is value here for the price (spend a small sum so one doesn't have to reformat one's own NPC "tents" but thinking of a higher price point there would be value in adding some additional creative additions. For example, having two seperate stat blocks for the spellcaster - each with explicit lists of the spells available to that version, etc...

Thank you Matt for your kind review. I have attempted to address your issues and released v 1.01 already to include as many of your suggestions as possible. There are some "Creative Additions" coming, and I am in contact to Webb to add a full templating system (Webb makes the best Tent Templates) to include all the artwork and information necessary to make your own printable sidekick tent that includes your computer drawn images. As for a higher price point. $ 0.50 is the lowest price point that DMG allows on Pay What You Want Items, and that will always remain my price point. These are tools to help people learn, and as I improve on them I will not increase that. There are several other things in the works for this project as well (Full Character Sheet Generator is one example) but I would prefer people pay what they want for the currently included content, that way if something happens and an idea can not become a reality, no one can say "BUT YOU PROMISED" Keep you suggestions coming. I always welcome comments and ideas at cblanchard@ddalplayer.com
