Phenomenal resource, loads of ideas. I love how this series includes little mini adventure seeds that tell you how players might encounter each monster.

This book is wonderful! Formatting is excellent, content is excellent...I'd have to say the best part, is that there are little blurbs with each creature, outlining a possible scenario with one, in case you're somewhere, and you get stuck, or you're just looking for a new challenge for your players. There are creatures from the original game, and original content: the former come from all sorts of sources, and includes Arch-Devils and Demon Lords; the latter includes variations on "core" creatures, such as demons, devils, ghouls, oozes, orcs, and -so- many more besides! There are also a handful of playable creatures, which is a very nice option for groups.

The only "problem" I encountered, was a minor hiccup with getting the .PDF, but that was dingbattery on my part. And you know what, that made me all the more excited when I opened this for the first time.

This book is worth every single Copper, or even Electrum, or piece of real-world currency you put into buying it. Truly a beautiful work, and every retro gamer ought to have a copy!

What can be said about this product? The original Tomes of Horrors were all great products that featured and number of "old school" monsters from previous editions of the game all under the OGL. It even had a breif "tutorial" on how to add these beasties to your own products. Now those very same monsters are back in one huge book "updated" to Swords & Wizardry stats. Nearly 700 monsters, all ready for your game. In addition to art and stat blocks for every monster there is also an adventure hook for each one. The monsters have been "scaled down" to fit the S&W rules better. One minor nit-pick. The original art is used (which I am happy about) but in their efforts to redo the layout sometimes that art is reduced in size (making it hard to see) and other times the art is placed over some text. Not often mind you and not enough for me to downgrade this product.

Now what I would like to have is one "Ultimate Tome of Horrors" that has the Pathfinder and S&W stats together with the plot hooks.

I was some what of a late-comer to D&D, because of my grandmother's Fundamentalist anxst. I bought the hard covers in the Spring of 89, and began GMimg shortly thereafter. What facomated me most about the game were the creatures, especially the weird ones from Fiend Folio and Monster Manual II. When Tome of Horrors Revised came out on PDF a few years ago for 3.5, I was glad to encounter those monsters again. The only problem was, the complexity of the 3.5 rules are a turn off. Here we have the complete Tome of Horrors, with the illustrations and flavor text of the previous volumes and adventure seeds for each monster. I'm a partially employed educator rapidly approaching 40 who subsists upon the kindness of his wife. I am skeptical about spending $29.99 on a single PDF, especially when the original hardcovers were $15, back in the day [I mean the original Gygax D&D/ AD&D books], but this PDF has enough to keep a game going for years.
