All in all a great Forged in the Dark game, but not without its quirks. The ban system gets a little cumbersome at times. The rebellion system isn't as fine-tuned as Blades in the Dark's gangs. GMs should expect to do a little house-ruling there (and maybe around player XP, too). If you're a GM who is used to improvising and tweaking systems as you play, this will run pretty smoothly for you. If you're not as comfortable adjusting the system on the fly this might feel a little wonky at times. The book is organized pretty well for the most part, but the differences between it and Blades can be hard to find sometimes. Would benefit from a reference doc or one-sheet (maybe two) GM reference a lot. I think it could really benefit from a second edition. It's a solid foundation that needs just a little more polish. If your GM is willing to do that polish for a campaign Brinkwood really sings. If not, there are other games that feel more complete.

This is definitely one of my favourite forged in the dark games, and thats sor stiff competition. the setting, the stye, it makes you want to flesh out everything in crazy detail. ive ran it several times now, and look for any excuse to run it again. 10\10

This is a fantastic game. The sharing of masks among players allows a flexibility that I haven't seen in other games before. I can see the potential for this mechanic in a variety of other settings, and I also appreciate the thought put into growing the rebellion past simple skirmish missions. You really feel the rebellion grow the longer you play.

Really impressive take on the Blade in the Dark ruleset. The art is beautiful and the mechanics are well realized. The theme is fascinating a very modern late stage capitalism take on an old vampire concept. Very impressed! The only drawback is that the reference sheets aren't great so I made my own.

Quite frankly one of the better Forged In The Dark games out there, with almost painful relevance to the world we live in, despite being about uhhh castles and vampires. The art, composition, and core concept are all excellent, and if you have ever, in your life, had a bad landlord, it will resonate deep in your heart.

Mechanically, if you've played one Forged in the Dark game, you're already familiar, but the invocation of the masks is an interesting spin on the standard setup, and the scale of the built-in goals never leaves you wondering 'well, what was it for?'

So, if you've read the synopsis, and you're at all intrigued, just spring for it! Just do it. You won't regret it.
