Cool illustration, I put it to great use in my latest adventure! I was very happy to discover the image has a transparent background, so I didn't have to try and cut it out.

I love this illustration! It inspired me to write an adventure about human knights replacing their horses with horseradishes, because the goblin tribes kept eating all their mounts.

Sundered Skies - Setting Book

Underrated and frequently overlooked, in my opinion Sundered Skies is still one of the best Plot Point campaigns for Savage Worlds, with a lot of twists and surprises.

Gold&Glory: Seven Deadly Dungeons (Deluxe)
Publisher: SpaceOrange42
by Richard W. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 03/15/2018 07:59:26

For years, many people have claimed that Savage Worlds can't do dungeon crawls. Gold & Glory proves otherwise, combining old school concepts (like random character generation and encounter tables) with more modern ideas (such as usage dice and simplified encumbrance), blending them seamlessly with the Savage Worlds system to form a cohesive and versatile toolkit.

If you like Savage Worlds and dungeon crawls, you need this book.

Dungeon Portal Stock Art #1
Publisher: Saga Arts

Superb 1125x900px black and white illustration of a dungeon entrance, with a pair of eyes staring out of the darkness. The license also allows the image to be colored, and most of the black lines are connected to each other, so it only takes a few clicks in Photoshop to drop a nice colored/textured background behind the rocks.

Skies of Lynteer
Publisher: Tricky Troll Games
by Richard W. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 11/24/2017 01:53:25

This is a very cool mini setting with a low entry barrier for newcomers, and enough flavor to springboard an entire campaign. The book covers everything you'd expect to see in a full-size setting book, but compressed down to about a quarter of the normal page count, focusing on the essentials rather than overwhelming the reader with information. I find this approach a very good fit with the low-prep mindset of Savage Worlds.

The players belong to a group of heroic explorers called the League of Heroes, exploring a sky realm filled with floating islands. But rather than using flying ships, the characters can actually sail the islands themselves! There are also flying hippogriff mounts for short-range travel (such as getting from one island to another).

Although the book doesn't include any adventures, it does dedicate several pages to an adventure generator.

Publisher's Choice - Fantasy Character Subscription
Publisher: Publisher's Choice Stock Art
by Richard W. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 01/23/2017 03:30:20

I'm a big fan of Rick Hershey's work, and use it extensively in my products. I've already picked up all of the smaller fantasy art packs, and many of them include figure illustrations, which I find to be very versatile pieces (they can be used for archetypes or NPCs, or as general art, and because they don't have a background they don't need to be precisely aligned with the text, which makes the layout work much easier).

This subscription consists entirely of fantasy figure illustrations, and it's slowly filling in the gaps left by Rick's earlier art packs. For example Rick has already released a couple of dwarf packs, but no elves - until now. Similarly, many of the traditional class concepts have been covered in earlier packs, but there was no bard until now.

Overall this is proving to be a very useful addition to my collection (I'm already using five of the pieces in my current project), and I'm looking forward to seeing what gets added next.

Accursed: A Quiet Life
Publisher: Star Anvil Studios
by Richard W. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 07/12/2016 04:50:21

Set in the Outlands, this adventure has a distinctly Wild West feel to it, a feeling that is further accentuated by the ophidian illustration on the final page. The scenario presents the heroes with an interesting moral dilemma, and encourages thinking and diplomacy over mindless confrontation, although the adventure provides suggestions for handling either solution.

Overall it's an excellent addition to the setting, and would also make a great Savage Tale for anyone running an Accursed Plot Point Campaign.

Fuhgeddaboudit! Fifth Anniversary Edition (SWADE)
Publisher: Just Insert Imagination
by Richard W. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 06/02/2016 07:26:02

Just Insert Imagination first entered the Savage Worlds scene with their post apocalyptic Winter Eternal setting, which I backed on Indiegogo, But since then they've been expanding their portfolio with a range of other products, one of which is a mob and road movie sandbox adventure called "Fuhgeddaboudit!", by Eric Lamoureux and Morné Schaap.

However Fuhgeddaboudit! is much more than just an adventure, it's really a mini setting in its own right, and as this is a subject I'm particularly interested in, I decided to take a look at how they've organized their product.

The actual adventure is four pages long, around twice the size of a One Sheet, and includes an introduction, the setting rules, background information, adventure scenes (including a custom Interlude table) and PC secrets, as well as some thematic extras (mobspeak slang, and ideas for jukebox background music), and statblocks for NPCs as well as vehicle stats. There's also a fifth page which lists the full stats for five pregenerated characters.

The download also includes character sheets for the pregenerated characters (and a blank character sheet for creating your own), cards containing character secrets that can be printed and handed out to the players, and three separate battle maps.

There are a few minor issues with the pregenerated characters (Jimmy's Parry doesn't factor in Acrobat, the characters have an additional Hindrance each and get points for it, Paulie isn't strong enough to use his melee weapon, and a couple of the characters haven't used all their advances), but this doesn't really matter for a one-shot adventure.

Overall it's a very cool product, particularly for PWYW, giving the GM everything they need to run a memorable one-shot adventure.

I think this "mini setting" concept could also be a very effective way to test the waters for other new settings, allowing publishers to gauge public interest before investing the time and effort into writing a full setting book.

The King is Dead: VARGR
Publisher: Four-in-Hand Games
by Richard W. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 05/04/2016 06:51:10

Although this is advertised as an adventure, it's really more like a mini-setting. There's an overview of the history and geography of the region, a recap on recent events, and a breakdown of the various political factions (secret societies), as well as a handful of new abilities (one power, one Edge, and two Hindrances). There are also six archetypes (each offered as two versions: "standard" and "horrid secret").

The setting itself is a bit like a blend of French Revolution, Bram Stoker's Dracula, and Brotherhood of the Wolf, set in an alternate history with heavy gothic overtones and vampire aristocrats. The adventure part is split into three acts, each of which spans two pages, and I'm pleased to see it makes extensive use of Savage Worlds mechanics like Chases and Dramatic Tasks.

Overall this is a very cool product that offers us a taste of great things to come.

Accursed: Bone and Barrow
Publisher: Star Anvil Studios
by Richard W. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 04/05/2016 04:47:35

I received this supplement as a stretch goal for the Accursed: World of Morden kickstarter. Bone and Barrow is the final world book, covering Cairn Kainen and the Outlands, and it paints a pretty bleak picture that I think really sums up the darker elements (and locations) of the setting.

As usual there's a selection of new monsters, Edges and Hindrances, but this supplement also contains a rather novel game mechanic that's worth a special mention - a FFF card based system for generating new Outland states, using the Accursed double poker deck (with a dice-based fallback for those who don't have the deck). I'm a big fan of random tables, and I think the extra "crunch" in this case really helped balance out the descriptive "fluff", resulting in a book that feels well-rounded.
