Old Enemies Arise touches on the history, politics, and culture of the Realms in a way that the 5e era has been sorely lacking. Long time players will
appeciate the chance to participate in a classic rivalry, and new players will get a look into wider culture and conflicts that published 5e adventures
have previously ignored.
The adventure itself is a good mix of investigation, role-playing, and combat. The characters will need to piece togther who is doing what to whom as they navigate a set of combat encounters that is significantly more challenging that typical adventure league faire. As the situation comes into focus, they will
have decisions to make about who to support and who to oppose.
The author cares about the production values of the mod, and it shows. The maps are several grades about the usual AL maps. Clear, easy to read, and in color with both DM and player versions. A player handout provides a break down on the critical lore for the mod, and illustrations for the major NPCs are provided.
Old Enemies Arise is an entertaining mod, the will appeal to both combat munchkins and lore and story purists.
