Little Things: The First Offering
Publisher: Black Goat Games
by Rafael C. [Verified Purchaser]

This nasty little system-agnostic sourcebook features 29 pages of strangeness, including:

  • New monsters, like the dimension-hopping Krofron -- which, depending on the GM's roll, might be searching for kidneys to harvest or human flesh to eat. Fun details, well-written.

  • Random tables -- names for villages (Clawpoint), weird secrets ("The candlestick maker uses babies as one of their ingredients"), and random room details ("A young woman named Alzbeta is crying for some reason"). It's vile food for thought.

  • Cornerstone Keep, a five-page mini-setting with NPCs, info about the region, and disturbing secrets.

If you're looking for new grotesquerie to inject into a dark fantasy RPG, you might dig Little Things.

A must-have. From the mouth-watering image of fresh-baked bread, sliced and ready on a rustic cutting board, to the "nearly as incomprehensible as a north European death metal band's logo" font used throughout the document, this PDF screams quality.

The rules on the third page are a tad baroque -- the author might have spent a bit more time explaining the use of the ten-sided dice (besides, what does one do if one only has a single die?) -- but the layout is clean, with plenty of white space.

Not to toot my own horn, here, but I know a thing or two about integers, and from a cursory examination, it appears that every single item in this list is in the right place, which is pretty rare for a game supplement of this kind; clearly the author took his research seriously, providing the kind of due-diligence that one expects in a professional-grade product. Quite a pleasant surprise to see it in a small-press publication (hope that didn't sound too condescending, as it was intended as a compliment).

All told, worth every penny.

Clipart Critters 28 - Fleshy, Absorbed, Mass

Though advertised as a 300 dpi image, it's actually a low-resolution image. At 300 dpi, it's roughly a quarter of an inch high by a quarter of an inch wide (making it unsuitable for print, to put it mildly).

Well-executed image, but if you intend to use it as a printed illustration, then it's of no use to you.

Not sure what's going on with this reviewer. The image is high resolution and available in line/shaded/colour all at around a quarter page in size for print, not a quarter inch.
