Hull Breach Vol. 1
Publisher: Anodyne Printware
by David S. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 09/01/2023 12:31:12

I am very impressed. This is far more than a collection of zines from different authors, it is a toolbox full of NPCs, scenarios, random tables, and enemies that can all be used and strung together to create an amazing sandbox campaign. Random tables right on the inside cover help GMs connect the different modules, and it even has advice for different styles of game (called Campaign Frameworks), from survival focused, to exploring the frontier of space, to corporate intreague. As I read this book, I keep saying to myself "Ooh, I am totally going to run this!".

I already cannot wait until Hull Breach Vol 2!

No Step on Snek

Its rare that reading an rpg adventure actually makes me laugh out loud. This is one of those adventures.

Written in a prose that can only be described as "belligerent hobo yelling at you from a trashcan", all Punkapocalyptic material immerses you in the grungy, gross and downright unpleasant setting and makes sure you know none of the denizens are happy about the situation either. So grab your rusty stop sign and get ready to beat some ass, cause this adventure forces you to deal with the worst kind of dangerous idiot: loud idiot politicians and their idotic families dripping with nepotism.

Kuro (english)
Publisher: Le 7ème Cercle
by David S. [Verified Purchaser]

So glad to see Kuro is available again! This game is very unique, there should be more Japanese-style horror RPGs! Packed full of plot hooks, ideas, and references (see if you can spot the Ghostbusters homage), this book is very enjoyable to read through. Some of it tends toward Japanese mythology more than modern Japanese horror, but that can be easily swapped out with more unknowable entities like the strange little boy from The Grudge. Other than the tech available to characters, the cyberpunk themes are more in the background, and can be used as little or as much as the GM sees fit.

The system gets out of the way and allows you to get right to the action. It is also somewhat refreshing to have a horror game without a sanity system!

All in all, Kuro has one of the best and most original settings I have ever read, and it is a joy to read.

Shadows Over Sol: Contacts
Publisher: Tab Creations

I am always impressed by the quality of Shadows Over Sol products. This one is full of campaign-ready NPCs, with plot hooks, competing interests and unique aspects that make me want to use each one as I read it. This could easily be used in virtually any other sci-fi game, as the stats (which are for SOS) are easy to ignore in favor of other systems, if so desired.

It is so nice that sci-fi games are now getting supplements like this; every campaign needs NPCs, and now there is a host of great NPCs that will make any campaign more interesting. I can't wait to play a Shadows Over Sol campaign.
