A good collection of 1 hour modules. I do suggest you run them in order with a new group. And be willing to adjust the encounters on the fly. Especially Mission 2 can go south quickly if the monsters enlarge.

A great intro module(s) for players getting into 5th edition/new to Adventurers league. The one-hour stories make it easy to move around as well as move characters into/out of the current storyline and opens up the "rebuild" option for new players working on fine tuning their characters.

Though this was fun, my players had a hard time feeling motivated and getting into it in terms of their characters. I would still reccomend this, especially if you only have like an hour or something and you want to split it up.

This was the first module / these were the first adventures I DMed. Overall, I found them an easy introduction (and without many places where I felt I had to make things up extensively to keep the adventure making sense, which I've felt in some of the other mini-adventures). They did run a bit long (partly because I had a table of 7 players, partly because the players split the party in the first one, and partly because people were having fun role playing and poking around). I made it through four of the five before the table was exhausted.

I enjoyed the 5 prophecies that provided the very vague framing story. I think the players might have appreciated if it were more obvious which mini-adventure matched up with which faction, as is done in the Season 7 mini-adventures.

One note about Mission 4: I ended up fudging things slightly so that the whole party had to enter the final room at once. It felt like it wouldn't have worked well if the character scouting ahead would have gone in there and triggered the final encounter without the rest of the party.

The 5-set of adventures are good if run on a good amount of time - even though each of them are 1 hour each, they all have their own, mini-stories around them, which the players can get lost easily on. Should be kept as simple as possible, and mostly ran for 1st time players with time on their hands.

If you DO have time on your hands... expand on the NPCs! Make their 1st experience memorable!

I thought these adventures were really fun and silly, though I must say that they do lack real length and substance.

The basic idea is that a madman tells you to go to five different places, and obviously curious, you check it out. The five places seem almost unrelated and pass by much too quickly. These should absolutely be classified as half hour adventures, and not hour long adventures. I would say that of all the seasons intro adventures I've done, this one was the best for a quick intro to D&D (due to the simplicity and expedience of the adventures) but probably the worst for experienced players.

That being said, they were whimsical and quite fun. I think a clever DM can increase their length and make them a lot more fun.

This is another of the "5 1-hour mini adventure" sort of things they do at the beginning of each season of Adventurers League. I ran it a while back at a convention and had a good time. The players enjoyed the giant demonic goat that showed up at one point, and it introduces some characters that show up in other adventures later in the season, which is nice. There's a fair mix of roleplaying and combat encounters, something for everyone really. The main concern I had was an encounter with a creature who possesses immunities that could render them unkillable to some parties. If you do the adventures in order you'll have found an item that will help, but nothing requires that to happen, and if you let the players jump around they'll potentially get splattered.

1 hour adventures rated for levels 1-2. Fun to play, but a lot of work for 100 XP max and no magic items. The modules tell a decent story and introduce the players to the world of racist Hillsfar.

standard 5 modules 1 each for each faction. Really only the second one has direct ties with the other season 2 modules and care needs to be taken when portraying the beliefs of Hillsfar and not letting it become a real life issue. In fact a seperate document was relased that covers this.

Recommend Purchase: Yes. XP Range: 350-500

I recommend downloading the State of Hillsfar document and reading that before running any Season 3 module.

Why is Hillsfar a relevant setting at this time? Walls and refugees. The Great Law of Humanity: Only humans are allowed within Hillsfar. The Great Law of Trade: Do not interfere with any legitimate trade.

Does Hilsfar have anything to do with the Season 3 Hardcover - Out of the Abyss? Not really.

+++++++++++++++++++ Note: No Season 1, 2, or 3 module has a digital certificate to print because WotC says they can't accept volunteer help for legal reasons and won't allow their paid employees to create the certificates even though they have the templates.

The DMSGUILD site segregates reviews between people who've purchased it here and everyone else. They do NOT have a robust rating system, relying instead on the 5-star model.

This particular module consists of five scenarios or "mini adventures". WotC seems to think each of those should run in about an hour each. In my experience, they take about an hour and a half to two hours each. The setup for the adventure overall focuses on the rantings of a madman. Somehow, the players realize he is actually prophesying, and they turn that into clues that lead to five separate scenarios. That felt really weak, but I ran with it anyway because, with a public group, we didn't really have time for an in-depth "session zero" to get the group together. I would have liked a better introductory hook.

The scenarios themselves vary. Without getting too far into spoiler territory, the first two felt too much alike: go to a farm and discover a mystery, then halfway resolve it by trying to be heroes. (That first scenario nearly led to a TPK - some of the demonically-affected creatures can present a significant combat challenge!) The third scenario felt even more disconnected from the overall storyline. However, I really liked running the fourth and fifth, and the reactions of the players (especially to scenario four) indicated that they really felt immersed: creepy stuff was happening and they had to work to figure out how to resolve things.

Grabbing it and making it your own will allow you to deal with that rough setup, which is mostly just a problem in the way the AL set up this particular content. Therefore, I wouldn't recommend running this as an adventure. Think of these instead as five encounters (or maybe just the last two) that you can drop into your campaign to foreshadow some great evil stalking the world or just to set the tone with demons and undead and cultists.

It is a good intro to the city of Hillsfar and what lie ahead for season 3. The five mini adventures keep it short and make it easy to have players new to 5E and AL sit in on a quick game or two to see if it's something that interests them. Each one has its own quirk that challenges the players to prime them for full adventures, though I found one can be a bit overwhelming and can punish the players a bit harshly considering it is something usually run for brand new players.

Like all of the multi-part DDIAs, about 3 of the 5 mini-adventures are a blast. One is a bit boring, and one is just confusing as all get out.

That said, if your party can get themselves pointed in the right direction, the individual challenges are pretty fun.

Harried in Hillsfar is the introductory adventure to the Rage of Demons storyline. It's good in a way that it introduces the character to the different situations and things that they may encounter during the storyline. It has combat in every part and is interesting in a way that will keep the player's interested in what the hell is really going on in Hillsfar. It even hints at something later on during the adventures. It's a good adventure to play for people who are new to Dungeons and Dragons.
