Blades in the Dark

Hands down, my favourite RPG to run as a GM. I am in love with the system. The way Stress is baked in across the board as this replenishable resource with a fictional recourse, to flashbacks being oh so smooth a fix for the hours of planning I've previously experienced in heist related games.

If you like narrative games I cannot recommend this enough.

I couldn't play DW without this in future, not least of which for the edits made to regular travelling rules and setting a watch. I enjoy the edit to the Ranger, too.

The dungeon creation mechanic is neat but I didn't break it out all the time if I had something a little more structured in mind, but it's otherwise very interesting to utilise.

I love using this system for one-shots - my most recent being for a friend's birthday, she's an avid Aliens fan so I secretly put together a surprise RPG session where she basically played Ripley (a marine variant) and lived out an alt-Aliens storyline with a lot of sacrifice and tense moments.

For the price, it's a steal!

I had a blast playing this with a very wild campaign, it really sold me on the usage of clocks. In hindsight after playing Blades in the Dark it would definitely benefit moreso from a flashback system baked into it rather than the planning phase but that's just personal preference from a GM perspective.
