I've been playing this for a while and really enjoying it. I love the character creation, quick and simple with a fun & flexible background generation. Character progression is excellent, way better than XP or milestones, the player has agency in how they progress in abilities and level.

Heroic Deeds offers a perfect blend of OSR and modern TTRPG systems. The Deeds system for leveling up your charatcer is a new and interesting take on advancement. I also really enjoyed how you create your character through "building your legend". I can't wait for the complete game to be announced!

Purely on the creation mechanics alone this would be worth the cover price - the fact that it's a whole game is just a bonus!

Character Creation and World Creation mean that you can have a bunch of characters and a setting generated in under an hour, while the later tables for monster creation mean you can also populate it with bespoke creatures to keep your players on their toes.

The art is fantastic and a perfect match for the layout and tone of the book.

Yo might need to bear with the Initiative mechanic for a few turns - it's very intuitive, but takes a few goes to get used to - although that might just be me being bad at counting!

This is a great quality indie rpg with a grimdark asthetic, and an old school feel that will let you adventure in any genre you fancy. You could sit down with your play group with no idea of the characters or setting you want and use the creation system in this guide to just start and collaboratively build your world. What I particularly like with Dodeca, and think makes it worth your time checking out, is the narrative character creation. You build your character's story with random rolled prompts (you could just choose if you don't fancy random creation), this roll gives you a narrative hook to build your character from. For instance a character section beginning with "I was born...."; you then roll a D12 to complete your background sentence, it could be something like "...in the midst of a storm". This gives a great prompt to be interpreted literally or figuratively to start getting an idea for type of character you play. These prompts also have a mechanical element tied to them that will adjust your character stats in some way too in relation to what this background could say about them. It's a really nicely thought out creation process that allows for a huge amount of flexibility and variation but at the same time provides very useful prompts and inspiration for your character.

Lovely little rpg, with an old school feel. not overly complicated, but giving you all you need to create a world and characters unique to your game.

Such a great self contained RPG, that keeps the old school grim feeling but still updating it for modern character and world building. Mechanics are really simple to pick up, but have a great level of crunch, and if you're into optimizing there's space for that too.

Had the most fun creating unique weapons to fill our custom world! Also LONG LIVE THE NECROMONKEY!
