In 2077, the storm of nuclear war reduced most of the planet to cinders. From the ashes of nuclear devastation, a new civilization will struggle to arise. A civilization you will shape.

How will you re-shape the world? Will you join with a plucky band of survivors to fight off all-comers and carve out your own settlement? Will you team up with pre-existing factions like the Brotherhood of Steel or Super Mutants to enforce your own ideals on the Wasteland? Ghoul or robot, paladin or raider, it’s your choice - and the consequences are yours. Welcome to the Wasteland. Welcome to the world of Fallout.

This DIGITAL COPY of our 438-page rulebook contains rules and lore for roleplaying in the Fallout world, as well as concept art from the Fallout videogames. Utilizing Modiphius’ celebrated 2d20 cinematic role-playing system, the Fallout RPG will take players on an exciting journey into the post-apocalypse!

Create your own survivors, super mutants, ghouls, and even Mister Handy robots. Immerse yourselves in the iconic post-nuclear apocalyptic world of Fallout, while gamemasters guide their group through unique stories and encounters. The 2d20 edition of Fallout is as close to the bottlecap bartering, wasteland wandering, Brotherhood battling excitement as you can get.

  • Immerse yourself in this genre-defining setting with the official Fallout™ tabletop roleplaying game.
  • Create your group of original characters including vault dwellers, ghouls, super mutants, and even robots. Tell your own stories of survival in post-nuclear America using a host of non-playable characters and horrific mutated creatures.
  • Use iconic weapons, armor, chems, and items transferred straight from the video game. Scavenge the ruins of the old world and make your mark on the Wasteland.
  • Utilize the 2d20 System - a roleplaying rules set that supports both story-led adventures and detailed gameplay. Use Action Points to power your incredible wasteland wanderers, and augment their actions with your fantastic Perks.
  • Use an extensive catalogue of creatures and characters from the world of Fallout.
  • Gamemasters can kick things off with story hooks immersed in the Fallout universe, roll and build random encounters from tables inside the book, and even randomly generate locations and loot for their players.
  • 'With a Bang or a Whimper' 18 page introductory adventure

Are there any premade Campaigns, Quests etc. (Outside of the 3 in this rulebook)
Anything community made?

I understand that, right now, "Area" (ala FASERIP version of Marvel Superheroes) is used for combat as opposed to "one square/hex equals x distance". Will that change? I ask because that's a deal breaker for me.

I haven't seen anything indicating that they're interested in changing it. All of their 2d20 games use it (as bad as it is). It's a copout combat system and, while it BARELY worked in FASERIP, it simply doesn't, remotely, work for Fallout. They really should have put some effort into a more Fallout-esque combat system.

Me, I just cribbed range/movement rules from D&D 5e (with some GURPS tweaking moving to 1-yard hexes instead of 5-foot squares).

The Modiphius 2d20 system is the poster child for why I read as many games as I can: you'll find an, otherwise, great system hamstrung by an incredibly substandard rule that the developer believes is great because they probably don't play with it as written. Having experience with many other games lets you fix the game in your own way.

I cannot find the explanation for NPCs Wealth score and its uses. I suspect it has to do with loot. Thanks.

It's one of the many, many errata they haven't entered yet. If you look on pg 335 under Caps. The terminology got changed but they didn't fix the description. Hopefully they'll actually get the errata'd version to us soon.

Has any of the necessary errata been done yet? Looks like nothing has been updated here is that accurate?

a lot of errata was fixed for this pdf at launch, there's errata being reported all the time as with most games, we're compiling it at the moment and the team are booking some design time to get another pdf update out to everyone, it's likely end of this month as we want to ensure we catch as much as possible

I'm thinking of writing a review of the product itself, which so far I think is EXCELLENT. I am impressed with how well the Fallout setting feels tied to this different ruleset and I'm loving it so far. The rest of this post will not be complimentary, but I wanted to be clear that it does not reflect on the quality of the product itself:

Not only does the game call for special "damage dice" but the dice aren't available anywhere. You cannot even pre-order them from the Modiphius website, and the only way to get them there was in a special deal with the core book that's sold out.

Before anyone jumps in, I know that you can just use standard dice with a table located inside the book. But that adds an extra step that isn't necessary, and the "funny dice cash grab" is getting old. If you're going to push them all over your book, then they should be available when you release the book. Yes, even the digital version.

The dice are hard to get as they've not been released in the US thanks to massive sea freight delays, and equally bad delays in US logistics with huge delays at ports and rail hubs, however they're due to arrive at the warehouse in the US in about a week and another big re-stock is due in October to back it up - so we expect US stores to have the dice by the end of this month.

In Europe sales were so huge we sold out, but again have another big re-stock arriving first week of October (again with delays this should have been here by now).

People don't let the dice fool you get some d20 and your ok with those, then 4d6 on them black out the 3 & 4's, 5 + 6 are specials and 1 hit, and 1 + 2=1 hit & 2 hits its that easy.

Yes, there are tables for both the dice and the hit location die in the book. I also specifically covered this perspective this in my last paragraph. The dice are pushed throughout the book. They are part of the design and cost at minimum 20 dollars us. This is not a minor thing to have them be unavailable. I feel very strongly that as neat as they look and as handy as they are for determining a value between 0 and 2 (with special effects), the primary goal is to sell accessories to fill a need created by the core rules.

Checked with the production team, it's down to the enormous amount of art in the book, we tried a low res version but got complaints the art was too low res so this is a compromise

Is there any way to lower the res of the text or put the art onto different layers on the pdf?

The only thing that seems odd to me is that 3rd gen synths can't heal on their own or use stim packs when the video game and lore says that they should be able to.

So, in short, "Give us your money now, and we promise we'll fix it later." Of course, they haven't been quick to fix some of their other products (e.g., Conan) that desperately need errata, but we should really believe them this time, right?

Well, I can't speak for them on things I haven't been told, so, YMMV. But, there are some glaring oversights in the book:
Missing equipment descriptions
Missing table entries
Clumsy rule descriptions
Swapped table columns
Typo'd enemy statistics

The book is full of errors. As I said in my review, none of these are an issue to experienced GMs, but if you don't have a lot of experience and other games to steal ideas from, it's going to be rough.

"The game hasn't actually gone into full-release it's still being worked on."
It's unfortunate that their response to you was such ludicrous nonsense. Fallout has gone through multiple playtesting periods where they've solicited player feedback, and there was an additional delay before they shipped out the printed copy of the book. What point do they consider the game to be in full release? Is it an unknown date after the one they've given in all their press? Is it an unknown date that comes after the shipping of the physical book to customers and retailers, that doesn't include any of the feedback you asked your community to provide? Or is it one after you tally all the money after shipping a product both digitally and in print, that is clearly incomplete?

There don't appear to be rules for determining how to determine which scavenging tables to roll on for different locations, or how to make up locations on your own. Is there anywhere I could get this information digitally?

The lack of a Cannibal perk makes me feel as if the writers have been playing the video games VERY differently than I do.

This is a very worthy addition to my tabletop RPG collection nonetheless. The variety of backgrounds the player can select from at character creation (Vault dweller, wasteland survivor, Brotherhood initiate, ghoul, super mutant, and Mister Handy) is especially welcome.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
