Treacherous Traps

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Treacherous Traps is filled with deadly and dastardly traps for GMs to unleash on their adventurers! An homage to the traps books of old, each trap is illustrated, explained with full Genesys rules (including how to detect and disarm the traps).

From simple corridor or item traps, to complex room traps, this tome contains a variety of ways to burn, slice, dice, maim, freeze, or electrocute the party!

Inside, you’ll find:

  • Rules on using traps, including trap triggers, incorporating riddles and puzzles, and using magic in traps.
  • An option for having traps make attack rolls (to determine how effective they are) as well as an optional skull rating system for just how deadly each trap is.
  • Special options for thief-type characters and how they interact with traps.
  • (15) Traps! Including 5 corridor traps, 5 item/creature traps, 3 room traps, and 2 wilderness traps!

Enjoy the mayhem which is sure to come!

Developed by veteran GM Chris Markham (as Gazrok Games), this is one of many titles already released for the Foundry. Though this supplement is set in the world of Mennara, it can be converted for use in your own fantasy campaign. The Genesys Core Rulebook, Realms of Terrinoth sourcebook, and either Genesys Dice or the Genesys Dice App are required to use this product.

Is this the old Traps & Treachery d20 book updated to the Genesys system?

No, I'm not sure what that is. These traps are inspired by the art I found, and the Grimtooth's Traps books I've loved since a younger player.

I didn't notice this wasn't direct from EDGE.
I was curious as you have Treacherous Traps I & II and EDGE Studios has Traps & Treachery I & II for the 3e Era of products.

Part of the Genesys Community titles program. Any title name similarities are coincidental. It's natural for a traps title to have the word traps and an adjective in it. As most of my titles use alliteration in the naming, similarity in names is inevitable, but not intentional. To clarify though, no, this isn't intended to have any connection to the 3e product you mentioned (though you've certainly peaked my curiosity about them!) Thanks!

I can see where both having a I and II could lend to thinking that though! I missed that in the first read-through.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
