Spheres of Power 5e

Selected Option:

Spheres of Power is an alternative magic system with long roots in the D20 fantasy space, here adapted to 5th edition fantasy and presented for your tabletop games. Within these pages you’ll find not only a completely new way to handle magic in your 5e games, but also find the tools you need to rebuild magic from the ground up to suit your needs.

Magic lies at the heart of not only a great many characters, but also a great many worlds, and far too often it is limited by the available rules. What if a player wants to adapt a concept from their favorite video game, anime, tv show, or book that doesn’t rely on traditional fantasy tropes? What if a game designer wants to create a world far outside the assumed setting, where magic comes from communion with moon spirits summoned to fight for the caster, or where magic-users do battle with physically-manifested words of the first language?

Within these pages, you’ll find the tools you need to not only create all-new character concepts, but also to adapt magic to fit the needs of your story and your world. Want to be a martial artist that controls elemental forces through movement? A magical girl fueled by friendship and battling with telekinetically-thrown mountains? A chemist who gains the power of nature through ingesting captured souls? All this and more is possible with Spheres of Power and its unique combination of Magic Spheres and Casting Traditions.

With 5 new base classes and adaptation rules for all core classes, Spheres of Power can easily be used right next to the core magic rules or can completely replace them as you see fit.

Come see for yourself what Spheres of Power can do for you and your games!

I found out there's a new release Ultimate Spheres of Power. Which one is 5E compatible? I see there's a logo of 5E at the cover of Spheres of Power, and a Pathfinder logo at the cover of Ultimate Spheres of Power.

This one. Ultimate Spheres of Power was a compilation volume for Pathfinder.

How do I create a fireball equivalent with these rules? The best I can come up with only does 4d8 + casting stat at 5th (caster with Destruction and Nature(Fire) spheres and the Blaster Adept talent using a destructive blast, augmented for damage, with fire blast type adding an extra 2d8 per round, explosive orb shape augmented for 20 foot radius). This seems pretty good, but I want to make sure my players feel balanced against stock casters. Is this the optimal way to do it? Also, is 2 SP the correct cost?

With Destruction, Nature, Blaster Adept, and Explosive Orb and 2 sp you'd be doing 4d8 + CAM + a chance to set them on fire dealing an extra 2d8 per round until extinguished, and if you're willing to spend another sp you increase the minimum damage you can do to 12 + CAM. There is no way to get the number of dice up to 8d8 on an initial blast, but with a higher damage floor plus the potential lingering damage, the average damage of the two is comparable with Destructive Blast having a higher potential output with a couple lucky (unlucky) rolls.

As a long time buyer of the Sphere system, I have to ask if a 5e version of Champions of the Spheres is going to come out as well.

We tried to incorporate a lot of our champions content into the two main books, if I remember correctly. Can you tell me what it is that's not in there that you'd like to see?

The Warp Sphere's teleport talent "Segmented Warp (teleport)" has a part that reference what I think should be a talent called "Pouncing Teleport" but it is nowhere to be found within the book. I can find a reference to it on a Pathfinder wiki only. Is it possible to get a quick errata about it?

Is the intent to ever add in the sphere specific drawbacks and the previous feats in an ultimate edition of the book? One of my favorite things was taking the life drawback that to cast spells i had to deal damage. It seems like a lot of the intent of "you can make any concept" has disappeared in the 5e edition.

I'm so sorry to hear that.

If you have this, I would think that converting the module would be similar to converting any other module or stat block from Pathfinder to 5e; possible, but will require finagling.

It's not form fillable, no. What part are you hoping to be able to fill? If its the character sheet, that's available separately I think as a free download and should be form fillable? If not, I know there's a form fillable version linked on our discord.

I meant the character sheet, yes. The file says it should be form fillable (at least it says so in the name of the file), but I can't actually fill it in. I've tried downloading it again seperately but it just doesn't work.

Is there any chance we'll see later products with the Hedgewitch or other missing classes such as the Shifter? I love the product, but I have to admit that in our pathfinder games, the shifter and Hedgewitch got a lot of use so we're hoping to see them turn up later.

The shifter is a subclass for the mageknight. The hedgewitch looked so completely identical to the incanter when translated to 5e that we saw no method, let alone reason, to include it.

This is an adaption to a completely new rules system, so I'm not sure what you mean; some of the abilities and such are adaptions from previous versions, but no there are no Pathfinder mechanics in the book, it's all 5e.

I assume this is the equivalent of the Pathfinder Spheres of Power adapted to 5E. Are there plans to adapt the Pathfinder Ultimate Spheres of Power to 5E?

This is an adaptation of Ultimate Spheres, not just spheres; if you are asking whether anything that didn't make the transition will later make a different transition, that depends; several things just didn't work in 5e, and most of the things that did work were transferred, with the exception of the Blood and Fallen Fey spheres which will be adapted later.

I don't think there's 'new' content in as far as something that isn't somewhere already in the Spheres canon for Pathfinder, but there is a lot of new interpretations; troubadours have become alter egos, for example, with vigilante and troubadour being two possible subclasses out of many more.

So, you'll have additional handbooks.
Will these ultimately be rolled into the main book the way the handbooks were rolled into the ultimate spheres? I won't be using this for a few months and I'm wondering whether I should wait for spheres of power to be updated, buy this now and the handbooks when they come out etc.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
