Each thematic subject is shown after the number (#). In parenthesis are words to help create manifestions of the theme. Each theme has 6 manifestations words, about 6,000 manifestations minus a few repeat words.

This is a theme generator that is meant to aid or take the place of a Gamemaster (GM) for injecting thematic subjects and manifestations of the them into a gamestory. Both sets of charts with results for 1D1000 2nd edition, as well as the original 144 result for 1st edition, systems are included.

This system is meant to give keywords or keyphrase, that when put together help to generate story theme—thematic subject as well as 9 personality character truths about the theme subject. The keywords are meant to help trigger thoughtful and inspirational ideas.

This system works well for adding random themes a settings for story writing, solo gaming, or to aid a GM.

This 2nd edtion expands and includes the 1st edition. 70 pages, many charts, 3 domains of themes, 21 subdomains, about 6,000 manifestion words, and 1,000 thematic subjects. Compared to the original which was 2pg chart & instructions, 1 domain, 10 subdomains, no manifestation words, and 288 results.

Example of Using Theme Generator

In this example, let’s assume that the person rolling has rolled a 1d1000 rolling a 004, a 4.

Subject #4 is found within the personal domain, the Sensation subdomain, on the table entitled “1-4 Sensation in general.”

#4 is the thematic subject “physical pain”.

In general, the gamestory may be about physical pain. Differing beliefs about physical pain begin to emerge within the gamestory by NPCs in the dialogue, emotions, body language, and actions of the story. Screams of pain or cries of suffering echo here, there, and everywhere. Events and situations that cause physical pain begin to materialize just because that is the thematic subject for the gamestory potentially to player characters and NPCs. Symbols or descriptive images of pain may appear in settings: bandaged wounded people, bent over clenched people, or healthcare workers trying to ease the pain.

The differing beliefs about physical pain begin to clash with the player character’s belief (truth or lie) about the situation.
