Hi! Interesting product.

However, looking at the preview I wondered: are the additional career skills supposed to be added to the career skills granted by Academic?

For example:

Under Academic there's Knowledge (Science) listed, and then also under Scientist it says Knowledge (Science) is an additional Career Skill.
I'm interpreting it that you should add the listed skills under Scientist to the Academic skill, and then choose 4 of all of those.

Is this how it's supposed to work? And then, if so, why is Knowledge (Science), among other skills, listed in both Academic (the career), and the career specialization Scientist?

Thank you for your reply.

Hi William. Thanks for your question. Each specialisation provides four new career skills as described on page 102 of the Expanded Players Guide book. It states: “When you create a specialisation, you should assign that specialisation four career skills. There can be some overlap with the career skills in the specialisations career, but generally, there should be at most two duplicate skills between a career and one of its specialisations. When a character takes a specialisation, they gain the specialisations skills as career skills if they didn’t have them already (meaning those skills cost fewer XP to advance.)”
So with the Scientist specialisation example, you could choose 4 career skills from the Academic list as normal, but decide not to choose Knowledge (Science) as one of them. You would then gain the additional four career skills listed under the Scientist specialisation (which includes Knowledge (Science)) giving you a total of eight career skills which have the XP discount to advance. Hope...See more

I dig the trees...from what I've seen they seem pretty accurate and fitting to their career.

I do however wish you had gone the extra step and put the talent verbiage into the trees instead of telling me where to look. If you intend on doing this, awesome, I'll hold my judgment. If you do not intend on doing this, then I'll likely have a much more critical review

Hi Zach. I’m glad you like the talent trees, thank you! I really wanted to include the verbiage for each talent, so you would have all the information in one book. Unfortunately one of the publishing rules for the Genesys Foundry states :
‘You aren’t allowed to copy large sections of any of those books. Small rules entries and item profiles (especially for presenting NPC profiles) are permissible, but you should refer readers to the appropriate book and page number for rules instead of copying them. As a guideline, if it’s already printed elsewhere, you shouldn’t need reprint it in your work.’
As there were a lot of talents to list, which include the rules to use them, I feel I would have broken these guidelines if I had included them. Apologies, I have to agree with you though, it would be nice to have the verbiage included.

Yep, I faced the same problem in Terrinoth Talents. As much as authors would love to include such details from the books, the rules of the Foundry are somewhat limiting here and we have to refer to such parts instead of including them.

Great, this brings the Genesys/Android setting "back" to the Star Wars Tree Specialization system and ensures that the player characters really differ from one another!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
