Hey Chris! Thank you!!! And thanks for pointing this out. SUPER exciting! I'm updating the cover now. I've been fiddling with the sequel to Salvage forEVER now, not even sure why I haven't pulled the trigger and finished it up. Just a crazy couple of years. Hopefully soon!

Hi Jarred, I have another question. For telekinesis, using the projectile ability, do you have to add the silhouette effect? So, a size 1 object at short range would be a difficulty of 5? Thanks.

Hi Jerrad. Love your book. Awesome, really! Have a question on Precognition. It's a little unclear how it works to me. Can the precog be the target? Like if he had a moment where he "knew" something was about to happen, he gets a out-of-turn-incidental? or does he pass that along to another? How would his precognitive ability affect others in a group unless he told them what was about to happen? Or do they share in his ability to see the future? I am just not getting something. Can you clarify? Thanks again for al the work you are doing!

Hey Peter! Thank you so much for your kind words!! Im’ so glad you like it!
Right! The character can catch a glimpse of a possible future. I think they can use it on themselves as well. Using it on others can be handled narratively a couple different ways, I left this vague for the players to decide. Maybe the power causes a vision that everyone who is effected shares in? Maybe the character shouts a warning as they see the vision? Maybe they simply manifest a new timeline with this power allowing different choices to be made?

Hello. Wonderful setting, book and work, truly inspiring and impressively handled. I do have one small question that I was unable to find a solid answer to in either your published book or the reddit manuscript you put beforehand during development (I've been following your project for a little while, it's really good), I was hoping you could offer an answer for me. Your work states that scrap can be 'connected' (presumably clipped on and worn) to a person to limit its encumbrance. This isn't the same as wearing a junker pack or modding, or even just carrying scrap.

I was hoping you could elaborate in more detail on the possibilities and limitations of attaching/clipping/wearing scrap and tech to oneself or one's gear? I like the idea of post-apocalyptic trope of dangling and jingling bits of variable value and significance to a character being attached to them in various ways. While I could just establish a house rule to cover this missing detail, I'd much prefer to hear from the author themselves....See more

Totally understandable. I look forward to hearing back and to any future releases for this setting. I really can't praise it properly enough, beyond what has already been said by others in this discussion, save that I find some of the minor rules additions you've made to be an excellent touch and well implemented (which is never easy for any writer contributing to someone else's core system). So again, very well done and thank you for your commitment to this project and seeing it through. We appreciate it greatly.

Hey Christopher! Okay, apologies for the delay in answering! To answer your questions, there are currently two options that kind of encompass this that come to mind. The first is modding gear with scrap. That scrap can be attached as “plating” to various gear, weapons, and armor by making a mechanics check. It can add defense or soak, etc., and when attached to something it loses its encumbrance.
The other way that comes to mind is a combination of the talents “Hoarder” and “One Man’s Junk”. Hoarder allows you to “carry” up to 50 scrap with no encumbrance. You can definitely narratively describe this as clipping, clamping and attaching it to yourself. And then One Man’s Junk turns that 50 scrap into +1 defense. There can definitely be some house-ruling around those two talents to improve the usefulness as needed.
Hope that helps! :)

The moment I read about The Hold: Ah, here's that punk element I was looking for. Now, to plan a campaign about kicking in the doors the wealthy and taking their stuff!

I'm very pumped for this!

Is this a central theme of the game or just a campaign idea you’re building?

The Hold is the most secure section of the colony humans have built on this alien planet. It is reserved for the most powerful and wealthy of the colonists and provides them with additional safety and comfort not available to the majority of people. To answer your question, it is just one part of the entire world of Salvage. I wouldn't call it a central theme. But it's a great opportunity for GMs like Matt here to create a campaign about disrupting the status quo. :) I'm not currently working on a campaign about this, I am working on another expansion/campaign idea for Salvage though!

I think because I am also a Publisher, it won't let me enter a review, but if I could, I'd definitely give it 5 stars (6 if it would let me). This is a SUPER professional job, and you'd be hard-pressed to tell that it didn't come from FFG itself. More than that, it's a fantastic setting, with fantastic art and styling unique to the setting. I already know several people who will be starting Salvage campaigns! Congrats to the team that put this together, as it is simply fantastic!

AH, Chris, thank you so much! I’m so excited it’s being received well. This is an idea that popped in my head two years ago and I’ve be working to really make it top notch. I wanted it to stand out. It means so much to hear you say it looks like FFG made this themselves!!
I’m sad you can’t review it. Haha. I need some reviews! Haha.

I know, it should be possible to make it more like a Traveller meets the Expanse setting just very, very curious!

The quest to build or fix a starship to be able to leave the planet could be a neat adventure module. It could involve finding parts, negotiating deals, the political ramifications of even potentially pulling it off.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
