Explorers of the Realm: A Micro Chapbook RPG Supplement

ADD TO WISHLIST >

What is Explorers of the Realm? It is a sourcebook for use with any Micro Chapbook RPG System rulebook(s). It helps you create a randomly generated overworld map for your game in between dungeons and provides new rules for towns, churches, and companions. Much of the gameplay works in the same manner as described in any Micro Chapbook RPG book.

You will need between 1 and 6 of the core rulebooks in the Micro Chapbook RPG system. You can download them via the Micro Chapbook RPG page for free or with a small donation (much appreciated).

For your ease, core rulebooks in this system have white text for their titles and supplements have colored text.

This file includes both the full-color and printer-friendly versions. Simply print off the two rules pages back-to-back, fold in half, and you have a complete supplement.

Since this was first released, the Micro RPG content has exploded! Have overland rules been revised or expanded since this supplement?

Yes, they have. The new Micro RPG-R Core Rules has a detailed world exploration mechanic.

Hi! If I pick up newer editions, will they include these, or will I need to buy these separately?

Hi! My 7 year old and I are just getting started with this. We have a collection of your adventures and are putting them into the world map. In this sourcebook, it keeps referencing a "World Chart provided with the game" I'm not seeing a world chart anywhere. I did make my own table but I'm confused about the difference between the Dungeon and the Town result. Are the Dungeons not associated with the Towns when played this way? Some of the modules have backstories that tie the dungeon to the town. Thanks!

Hi Lori. Glad you are playing the game and enjoying it. The World Sheet is included with the full-color version of this file in the place where the character sheet usually goes on the 2-page adventure scenarios. As far as towns and dungeons, Explorers of the Realm was made in the early stages of the game when the system mostly revolved around the two-page adventure scenarios. Newer books are more story-driven and therefore have a specific town attached to them. Therefore, there is no specific rule for integrating these. You can choose to split the town from the adventure or keep them close together on the world map.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
