Tome of Fantastic Items

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Magic items are a staple of any fantasy setting. The Realms of Terrinoth setting is no different. This supplement offers 82 completely different item entries, entailing over 100 different magic items to be used in the Terrinoth setting.

This book also contains special rules for buying and selling magic items, handling magic items and avoiding hoarding, creating cursed items, enhancing Heroic Abilities with characteristic items, identifying magic items and handing out treasure in a quick and easy manner.

Though this book was designed and developed to be played in the Terrinoth setting, it is mostly compatible with any fantasy setting using the Genesys Roleplaying System.

The Genesys Core RulebookRealms of Terrinoth setting, and either Genesys Dice or the Genesys Dice App are required to use this product.

Two other questions please...when using a potion (say Refined Venom for example), does the PC get just one use out of it? Many potions are obviously one use. (Those that are to be drunk to activate, which is probably most of them) But it's not so clear with something like Refined Venom, where a PC might have enough to get anywhere from 1-5 uses out of it. Maybe just up to the GM? What was your intent there? Thank you.

The other question is, once a Magic item like Ring of Protection has been used once, can it be enchanted again? Or is it just done when it comes to use for its magic?

Great work on this Tome, it's awesome!! Thank you!

Hi. All items under the Potions section are meant as single-use, and they follow the regular Genesys / Terrinoth rules for that. Refined Venom is a particularly powerful item, since it essentially forces a target to skip a turn. Of course, the GM is always free to modify or tweak any rule or item they see fit for the better enjoyment of their own players, and that would still be in line with Terrinoth's rules as written (as can be seen on the table for potion crafting, that allows the character to spend advantages, threats, triumphs and despairs to modify a potion's effects - and of course, it would make sense to add that effect to potions crafted by NPCs as well).

As for the second question, all items that explicitly lose their powers once used are not salvageable. If you want to allow players to reenchant a spent item, I would suggest looking for substitutions of specific pieces as part of the process. Using the Ring of Protection as an example, since its special use makes the once deep-colored...See more

Hi, I have a question regarding handing out treasure, which you discussed starting on page 28 of the "Tome of Fantastic Items". There you said that a party of 4 at 50 xp would have a base value of 1,000. Does the figure "50 xp" refer to earned xp once the campaign has begun? I assume it must, as most starting PCs in Genesys get 90-110 xp for character creation as well as an optional +50 (which I indeed did award at the start of my campaign). So this is actually beginning to sound like a stupid question, but could you confirm that's what you were intending? For example, I've awarded 15 and 20 after our first two sessions. So my group of 4 would be at 35 x 4 = 140 x 5 = 700 base value, correct? Thank you!

Hi. Yes, all mentions of XP levels of a player or party always refer to acquired XP, and never include XP from character creation unless that is explicitly specified.

You are correct. If you awarded 15 and 20 XP after your first two sessions, your party would be at 35 XP.

Amazing amazing work! Really adding a lot to lacking part of Genesys.
Quick note - The Weapons table on pages 5 and 34 has empty lines - is this on purpose? Not clear

Hi. Thank you so much for the kind words. Do you mean the lines under the blast gems? If that is the case, I will do something to make it clearer that those lines are for blast gems (both concentrated and concussive) of higher rarities and powers.

Yes, I didn't read it all so I wasn't sure if I missed something - I did apparently. That's what I meant.

That's OK. Thanks for pointing it out. Please, do tell me if you think the latest update made it clearer.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
