Warhammer 40,000: Wrath & Glory - Forsaken System Player's Guide

ADD TO WISHLIST >
EXPLORE A SYSTEM FORSAKEN BY THE GREAT RIFT

Cut off from the might of the Imperium by the Great Rift, and beset on all sides by the daemonic forces that emerge from the tear in reality, the Gilead System stands as a bastion of faith in the Emperor. Unable to call for reinforcements or escape the System, the citizens of these planets fight to preserve the Imperial Creed as they battle back the vile xenos, corrupted renegades, and foul daemons that assail them.

But even as the Imperium’s diverse factions  unite in this time of desperation, the rifts between them grow. With the Emperor’s watchful gaze obscured by the Great Rift, powerful opportunists pursue their own goals, and reignite old rivalries. The grim worlds of the Gilead System are rife with intrigue, betrayal, and secretive plots.

The Forsaken System Player’s Guide contains a wealth of information for running and playing Warhammer 40,000 Roleplay: Wrath & Glory, including:

  • Expanded information on the planets of the Gilead System, including optional backgrounds for Human characters.

  • Practical primers on the fractious Factions of the Gilead System, their hierarchies, and their relationships with one another.

  • Detailed accounts of the Patrons of the major Factions in the Gilead System, each of which has distinct Frameworks and mission ideas for your campaign.

  • 3 new playable Species: Ogryns, Ratlings, and Kroot.

  • 20 new playable Archetypes.

  • Optional rules for a system of downtime Endeavours to detail your characters’ exploits between adventures.

The entries for Ogryn, Ratling, and Kroot appear to be missing the languages by keyword for the new keywords, and the Allowed Keywords by Species list for advanced generation.

It's pretty unforgivable that this PDF still has errors in it, especially with how error ridden the newest supplement is.

Ability of Astartes Librarian on page 107 is the same as Astartes Chaplain, which is Chapter Cult. Is there a way to change that?

Hey my friend told me that there is a mention of cherubim on page 67 in wargear section.
Where can we find it's stats?

Cherubim stats are actually found in 'Litanies of the Lost', not sure if they officially intended to release them as a statblock of their own here.

Pg. 97 - Kroot's table contains errors:
XP Cost: Kroot.
Attributes: 22 (I assume this is the XP cost.)
I made some math based on the Kroot Merchenary (pg. 119) We sould receive Strength OR Thoughtness 2 for free.

Any plans for adding Tau castes in the future? They seem custom made for multi species games but never seem to get any love.

They mentioned that it's a possibility but far, far down the pipeline given there's so many other things to include at this point. Kroot move around quite a bit, T'au not so much.

This is true although they did find a way to get them into the old Rogue Trader line despite the distances there so it's not impossible. Not that they'd be able to expand their empire in this setting, which I admit is one of the reasons I like the concept, a chance to explore something new in the 40k line at look at an empire made up of multiple species and all the elements and issues that brings to bear.

I noticed a...potential error? I was looking for the Bolt Carbine stats for the Primaris Reiver subclass, and while it has a DESCRIPTION in the book, neither it or the other bolt weapon have actual stats. Is this an oversight or are they just reskins of bolters from the main book?

That is going to drive GM's crazy:
GM: 'John! A group of genestealers is bearing down on you! There is only one way to escape, the sewer system! What are you going to do??"
John:'I am Kroot.'
GM: 'John! WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO? Fight or flee?!'
John 'I am Kroot!'
GM:'They are almost upon you! They're shooting at you! What are you going to do?!'
John: 'I am KROOT!'
GM: 'JOHN!!'

I think I can translate the last "I am Kroot". I'm sure it's something along the lines of how on Earth can Genestealers be shooting at me! :P

Noticed a possible mistake on P 121: the Crozius Arcanum has the Exotic and Adepta Sororitas Keywords, shouldn't that be Adeptus Astartes, Power Field, and Imperium?

Yep, I saw that one too.

There are plenty of other mistakes in there too. The Astartes Chaplain has the Chapter Cult ability. And then we look at the Astartes Librarian and see that they...get the Chapter Cult ability too (same name but with different mechanics).

Disappointing that I find such things within minutes of flipping through the file.

At least they have an errata submission feature on their facebook post announcing the release, and they always integrate as much of it as possible before going to print.

That's disappointing, I expected the several errors trend to be a thing of the past since the switch from Ulysses Spiele to Cubicle 7; for expensive PDFs like this one, it should not be the norm, the publisher should have effective proofreading and editing, instead of waiting for their own customers to do the fixes.

Cubicle 7 has a game philosophy much like some other greats like Pinnacle. Basically, they release the pdf waaaaaay before the physical copies, and its fans proofread it for them in addition to their in house proofers. Works wonders.

@Adam L that sounds pretty awful! Specially considering that their proofers get paid for doing a lousy job, and their customers not only work for them for free, but also pay for the "privilege"? That's low, shame on Cubicle 7, I am very disappointed in them.

Not sure I'd see it that way, for example: in one of the most recent Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay books by C7, Archives of the Empire- Volume 1, people were not able to only fix mistakes, but ask for small rules changes and changes to the books format that would not necessarily be classified as errors. So, not only are we part of the editorial process, but the rules development as well. I mean, they're never going to be able to playtest anything so much as to make it completely perfect, but with millions more people getting a crack before print, they get a lot more feedback than ANY gaming company could get via in-house playtesting.

You could see it in different ways, but you are still working for them for free, when other companies deliver with little to no typos, and with enough testing so that the product is good.

Bear in mind that even a professional proof reader or editor, without at least some background in tabletop gaming, is simply not going to pick up on some of the errors already mentioned here, since from a grammar, syntax etc. point of view they do not necessarily represent errors.

Whereas gamers reviewing the same content will be far more likely to find things like missing stats blocks, rules contradictions and so forth, and suggest potential fixes and improvements based upon their experiences. Hence the best products tend to come from those publishers who make use of both approaches before releasing a final version to print.

(And as someone will no doubt point out, the general reaction to Catalyst's 6th Edition Shadowrun products seems to indicate an example where neither aprroach is favoured)

"Whereas gamers reviewing the same content will be far more likely to find things like missing stats blocks, rules contradictions and so forth" that sounds evern worse and worse with every word. And I already see two reviews giving 5 stars despite the errors. This is pretty crazy, working for free and giving perfect score despite the errors; obey the Emperor.

Mr S C,

Part of the job of a professional proofreader is precisely to get a background in the topic of the work they are proofreading, or they won't do a good job of it.

Correcting grammar and syntax errors would be all well and good IF roleplaying books were fiction works, but they are not. They are technical books, and thus need to be checked by people able to "find missing stat blocks, rule contradictions, and so forth." I agree that suggesting fixes and improvements should not be required from them, but restricting themselves to grammar and syntax errors is NOT a job well done.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
