Agents of Concordia Core book

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Agents of Concordia is a complete action/mystery/fantasy RPG, presented in a beautiful high quality format with a serviceable page-count of 188.

Take the role of an Agent traveling between worlds in this Action - Mystery - Fantasy RPG set in the 1960s you never knew existed.

Each player takes the part of a Special Agent, working within the Concordia Central Intelligence (the C.C.I.), charged with the safety of the multiverse. As a team, players will investigate different occurrences, try to thwart schemes, and stop threats against the habited worlds. With a myriad of species, working with equal parts technology and mysticism, the Agents of Concordia are like nothing you've ever seen.

The rules for the game are easy to learn and support a lot of stunts, high-octane action, and dynamic character progression.

  • Multiple Worlds: With a large number of different worlds in the Concord, there are no limits to the variation of missions and adversaries.
  • Science Fantasy: Play as a 9' Ogre Investigator or a 3' Marmoseti Locksmith. Use mysticism and rituals as well as guns and lab-equipment. Travel by gate or aether-fueled rocket car.
  • Story-driven rules: Created to be streamlined and fast-paced, the game system is easy to learn and adaptive to all situations. The game is designed to keep page-flipping to a minimum during game sessions, for maximum velocity roleplaying action.
  • Veterancy system: The veterancy system lets you level up in different situations. If your character is involved in a lot of heists, she will soon be a heist specialist, no matter her additional occupation.

Agents of Concordia is a trademark belonging to Strangewood Studios, 2019

Hello,

I bought the physical copy of the book from Modiphius as a present for my wife. After a few days we realized the whole Veterancies' mess. I asked Modiphius to help and they provided the designers' contact. I sent several requests without answer.

After a while I discovered the studio that created the game no longer exists. A couple of days ago I noticed this discussion here, so I asked Modiphius to give me the PDF copy for free...

Now, the PDF file they kindly sent me is exactly the same as the physical book I already own. How can I get the complete game with the missing bits about Veterancies?

It doesn't feel right to pay another 20 USD for a game I already own but which is not in its final form.

Can you somehow help Kristofer?

Thanks in advance

Edoardo

PS: the game is really great but we feel like we are missing the best part of it without knowing how to spend Veterancy points... Please help!

PUBLISHER
Our understanding is the designer is working for a new company that has taken over the brand and will be continuing to support this.

Hey Edoardo! Yes, we are shuffling stuff around a bit now, as more staff is coming in! We are still 2 ppl left from the original team (me and Robin who made the cover and the matte-style illustrations). There's going to be new printing, with some fixes (the missing table with the veterancy points explanation, new logos for new companies, and some look-through). We are also setting up a good pipeline to start publishing adventures.

I'll check if we can release the beta-adventure here, together with the missing list straight away. Otherwize i'll post it here!

Thank you

Hi Kristofer,
i just picked up the core book in the Modiphius sale and i'm really happy to see you will be continuing support for the game - its the most interesting premise i've seen in a good long while. Likewise i'm looking forward to the veterancy table :) Is there any way i can keep up with your progress, i wouldn't want to miss anything.
Thanks, Pete

Spend one Veterancy according to the skill OR situation to:

1) Turn a failed skill roll to a success, but with a drawback.
2) If you've rolled a natural 12 to roll an additional die and add the result to your roll.
3) Get an additional level on a successful roll.
4) Add information to the narrative at the GM's discretion. (Forgotten item, contact, etc.)
5) Act outside of combat. See Rules & Mechanics: COMBAT for more information.

Hope that helps someone.

It’s a nice enough looking game. My opinion of might be higher if my physical copy had ever actually shown up.

I'm sorry to hear that John, was it through the kickstarter campaign or through another source? I can forward the complaint if it was through the kickstarter.

Thank you

Believe it or not, a physical book showed up a couple of months ago. The packaging was EXTREMELY beat up, but the book inside was ok. Makes me wonder if the shipper lost it and found it a year later.

This game looks really, really intriguing to me, but I have 2 questions on my mind:

1. Is the "player's agency" solely based in the US or is it more of a worldwide thing?

2.since it is based around the concept of multiverse with Earth 1960s as a "starting point", how well would it support being transposed in another time (for example, the same concept of multiverse from Earth, but in the Middle Ages) ?

Hi Julien, sorry for the ridiculously late answer! Kristofer here, originator and author.

1: The agency is actually multiversal, so there are missions to be had in parallel worlds, and all of them know more about us than we do about them.

2: There are plans to do more of a "general" version of the rules system. There's definitely possible to do right now, but i would change the title of some core concepts in the rules:

Confrontation -> Fight
Infiltration -> Guile
Observation -> Vigilance
Exploration -> Exploration
Scholarship -> Lore

It "just" words, but it feels a lot less "Agent-y"! Should fit for other times periods. Some skills need to be changed, and obviously, the list of items redacted. But at its core, it's meant to be versetile.

Agents of Concordia is amazing so far, but are there any upcoming supplement books planned for this game?

Thank you so much Nick! right now we are cleaning up a bit with the last parts of the kickstarter (there's sadly some stuff lagging in production). We do have help with the GM's screen, and an adventure pack currently in the making. So after that, we are looking toward world books, covering the core world of the Concord with inspiration, adventures, and miscellaneous shenanigans.

Thanks

If someone could work on a form filliable version of the Character Sheet, that will be great.

This is in print through Modiphius entertainment, and should be available for your local gamestore to get in stock. If you ask them to take in our book, we'll be super thankful and happy!

Thank you

I just bought this book and the file won’t open. This is literally the first time this has happened to me on this site. However, once it finally works I’m really looking forward to reading it.

Hi Christopher! Yes, that's a bit weird! You should create something called Strangewood, and the circle will be complete. You have my blessing.

Thank you for the purchase, I hope you enjoy the book! Give me a shout if you have any questions.

I'm anxious for the print version. Strangewood is a good name for the area my players will be entering tonight. It is a different system (P1), but the name still works.

Will their be future supplements to create worlds for the multiverse

Hi Neil!

Yes, we are planning on adding that to our first world supplement, as an empty canvas for you as a game master! It's the spirit of the game, to add you're own worlds, inhabitants, and stories. It doesn't have an ETA right now, but stay tuned!

Thank you for the purchase

So I just read through most of the book. It all looks very simple and easy to get it the table.

However, with the exception of Veterancy: Reactions (pg17) the core book never explains how players spend Veterancy dots. The section on Veterancy in Advancement just says that these dots replenish between missions. There is also a little bit about the Target Number being 6 "for the purpose of spending Veterency" for Defensive Dex+Dodge actions implying that a Veterancy spend is a different type of test to a normal Dex+Dodge.

So my question is, what can players spend Veterancy on during a mission besides reactions and what does that bit in Defensive Dodging mean?

I assume that players can spend Veterancy dots to add a die to a test on any skill within the Veterancy, but this is never stated anywhere and I could be wrong. So... What the hell do players spend Veterancy on?

Wow, so I read the Quickstart from the KS which had a very nice table of "Spending Veterency Points" and thought surely they reprinted that in the book.. but you're absolutely right.. just skimming it I can't find how to spend them anywhere in here.

According to the QS you can spend a point of Veterency to turn a failed roll into a success with a drawback, to make a natural 12 on a die explode (so roll another d12 and add it, keep doing this until you don't roll a 12), add an additional level of success to an already successful roll, add a narrative detail, reactions in combat.

That said, I really hope this .pdf is not the final print form as that's a pretty major oversight.

Hi Michael and Daniel!

Yes, we will fix that right away! The release of the book got really stressful in the end, and the list got lost in the confusion! It will be included in the first Errata and added to the PDF as well. But you Daniel is spot on, on the usage of Veterancy.

It saddens me to say that the first print of the book will not include the list, and that will haunt my dreams forever. I have spent an unmeasurable amount of weekends checking minuscule details in layout and word use, and missed one of the most important parts of my favorite mechanic.

I hope Agents of Concordia really take up speed, and this will a road bump in an otherwise positive success story. I'm glad you guys are joining us early on, and thank you so much for the feedback! If you have any questions or comments you can always contact me at Kristofer.stenskog@strangewoodstudios.com.

Stay safe

Heya -
Just prepping for my first run of Agents - love the premise. The Veterancy confused me a little as well, so I'd love to have a look at the quickstart mentioned above to get my head around it. Where can I get hold of it?

There is a link on the kickstart page to the 'AoC quick play beta', just google the terms for the link to dropbox. It has useful pregens and sample items too.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
