Isle of Lore 2: Hex Tiles is fully packed with hex tiles, icons and overlays to create stunning fantasy maps for your video games, tabletop rpgs or print projects, be it a commercial endeavour or just to spice up your pen and paper roleplaying campaign!

This is the DriveThruRPG version of the assets, which contains all the content described here. If you want a version of the assets adapted for the Roll20 virtual table, you can buy both of them bundled together at no additional cost.

Tiles:

- 10 tiles per biome, spanning forests, mountains and oceans
- 2160 tiles in total, across all biomes and winter variants
- All tiles come in two orientations: flat-bottom and pointy-bottom
- Tiles are embedded in 840x840 px images, which equals 7.11x7.11 cm or 2.8x2.8 inches if printed at 300 dpi (a flat-bottom tile with border is 795x688 px)
- 21 path, road and river overlays
- Tiles come as png exports and as a data file which can be re-exported together with my free tool Tile Builder (by Steven Colling)
- Tiles come with a medium border around them: use Tile Builder to re-export the tiles with a different border or no border at all

Elements:

- All elements, like trees, mountains and bushes, are available as single files, with enough instances to ensure variety
- 30 location icons, like cities, farms and mines
- 60 flairs, for example to indicate the difficulty of a tile with a skull flair
- 60 markers, for example to indicate the player's current camp with a campfire marker
- Krita (.kra) and Photoshop (.psd) source files with colors separated by layer
- Compatible with my image batch editing tool Color Mapper (by Steven Colling)

The content of this pack works great in combination with my other Isle of Lore 2 asset packs:

- Isle of Lore 2: Strategy Figures
- Isle of Lore 2: RPG Item Icons
- Isle of Lore 2: Status Icons
- Isle of Lore 2: Terrain Icons

I've been trying to use with Hex Kit, and I've been futzing with it for a while but I can't seem to get it to align quite right (roads won't connect) and it feels like some of the locations are getting squashed vertically. Is there anything I can do about this?

Sorry for the inconvenience!

Which tiles do you use, pointy or flat? When importing the bordered tiles, I adjust the yellow line so the tiles' border is overlapping the yellow line just slightly. When importing the roads, I adjust the yellow line accordingly (had to fiddle around a bit), so they connect at the edges. The locations look fine to me, are you importing them from the right overlay folder, for example overlay_locations.standard_semi (instead of importing the location icons themselves)?

If you want, we could troubleshoot the problem together via mail (info@stevencolling.com), via Discord messages (stevencolling) or on my Discord server: https://stevencolling.com/discord.php

Sorry, that I can't be of more help right away! :(

Some of the coolest tiles I've picked up, managed to get them working well in both hexkit and the foundry vtt. Cheers, would love more terrain types.

Hi. I just purchased the tile set and I love them. Am I doing it wrong but it seams they are not clear? It looks like they have a layer on them to make it "blurry". Could you advice please.

Hey! Sorry for the inconvenience! If you mean "pale" or "light", that's the color palette as shown in the screenshots (I have a re-do of the set on my list, where I will make the colors more saturated). If you mean blur in terms of fuzzy (like motion blur or depth of field), then something is definitely wrong!

Love the look. Although, there is an issue.
I planned to use them in foundry VTT for hex tiling. I discovered that all images have excess transparent pixels which made all of them displace slightly within the hex grid. I managed to find some help from the VTT discord in running a .bat script to crop all the images in bulk to circumvent the problem. But they are not plug-and-play for VTT as is.

Can you send me an example of a properly cropped image to info@stevencolling.com, so I get a better idea of it? Sorry for the inconvenience!

Greetings!

Can the tiles be placed "flat part on top" vs. "point up?" Either way, thanks for this wonderful product.

Beautiful tile set, a favourite of mine and my player's.
One question/suggestion: would it be possible to get a non-hazy/misty varient with higher contrast and deeper colours?

Thank you very much!
Is not being able to leave a review as a purchaser a problem you had on other products, too, or only with this one?

I am a publisher myself, hence I can't review. Should have been clearer about that, my apologies!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
