Weird, Eldritch Creature Name Generator

This is a generator consisting of three d100 tables that can be used to generate names for weird, eldritch creatures. They can be used to create an unusual name for a monster, deity or follower, or as a means of sparking ideas for creating such.

The tables can be used in a number of different ways. The first is to use results from Table 1 and Table 2. the second to roll on Table 2 and Table 3, the third to roll on Table 1, Table 2 and Table 3 and a fourth is to roll on Table 1, Table 2, Table 1 again and Table 3. Filler words such as "the," "of" and "of the" should be used to combine the results, and many results have plurals and some have alternatives. Results that don't make sense should be discarded - for broad definitions of not making sense.

Here are creature names generated using the four described methods:

"The Behemoth Serpents"

"The Devourer of the Cascade"

"The Hateful Dancers of the Unknowable"

"The Fearful Crystals of the Inconstant Shimmering"

The tables can be used in more ways, by rolling more times on each.

This PDF supports Adobe layers and the page backgrounds and images can be disabled to make printing easier.

Hello,

I purchased 8 of your name generators all at once. When I looked at them, I noticed that I need a D30, a D50, and a D7 to use all the tables. How am I supposed to do that without buying some expensive dice?

I tried to find a way do that in those supplements but couldn't find any. If there is a way, then that needs to be clearly explained in the supplements.

Good point, I should update the supplements with suggestions on how to do that. I don't actually have such dice myself, I use normal ones.

For 1-30, roll a d6 and a d10. On the d6, 1-2 means that the d10 is 1-10, 3-4 means 11-20 and 5-6 means 21-30.

For 1-50, roll 2d10. 1-2 on the first d10 indicates that the second is 1-10, 3-4 means 11-20, 5-6 means 21-30, 7-8 means 31-40 and 9-10 means 41-50.

1-7 is a bit trickier, but add d10 and d4, halving the result and rounding up.

There will be other combinations probably and there are ways of using spreadsheets to simulate any dice desired as well I believe but I'm less familiar with using them.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
