d30 Random Coinage Generator

This d30 generator helps create new generic(ish) coins of different values based upon their metal content.

The idea behind this generator was to basically allow the GM to "hide" treasure within other treasure. Many, I'd dare say most, RPGs have some basic form of coinage and after a while tossing the party a few hundred or so loose coins of simple gold, silver, and copper becomes second nature. With this set of d30 tables the GM can throw together some coins that look like gold, silver, & copper but have different values.

I figure this is a good idea for parties raiding old tombs and whatnot. The names for the metal allows were mostly taken from real world coin alloys, although some were given generic fantasy names. Three particular alloys also share the same name, which isn't confusing at all......[insert evil GM laugh here]....

This generator does not create any designs/graphics/depictions of the coin faces, just their size, shape, and composition. There is an embedded link to a blog that has a d30 table for creating the coin faces, in case that is also desired.

This table exists just to add a little color to the game and to show a bit of love for the venerable d30.

In a pinch you could substitute the d30 rolls with other dice.You could use a d3 in conjunction with a d10 to get the specific result, and use this combination twice. This kind of goes against the idea of using d30 tables, but there you go. I'd suggest picking up a d30 from the likes of Crystal Caste.
