Hey James, thanks for reaching out. This is indeed a condensed format of the rules for both players and gamemasters. It is everything you need for 2nd Edition at the core, but much of the information is abbreviated as you say. This is to get people used to working with 2nd Edition before the launch of the 2nd Edition core books. If you are playing O:DS that is a self contained game, though content in O:U supplements (both 1st and 2nd Edition) could still be used with it if you were so inclined. If you do have questions just hit up our community forums, happy to help.

When is second edition coming out?

Hey Adam! The cards are not required for play, though many seem to find them a handy resource to have at the table for reference (not to mention the visceral feeling of being handed something that represents the gear you just found). Still, you can play just fine without if you prefer! Sorry about the delay getting back to you on this.

There is a ton of Print on Demand cards in the Publisher Store (Hunters Books), and the Starter Kit I know comes with cards as well. I think some stores also have the "Fight", "Survive", and "Rebuild" Decks in stores now.

Okay. I guess my frustration is that I have the starter kit book but not the starter kit cards. Seems like they should come as printables in the same package.

Or a link to buy just the starter kit cards if you've already bought this book. I get that it's not in your best interest to offer the kit's individual parts separately; you'd rather someone buy the whole starter kit. It's just frustrating to buy a book that talks about "the cards included in this starter kit" when those cards aren't included in my purchase.

Also: I see a few card sets available for the Earth-based game here on Drivethru (I think just the point/risk cards and the formation cards) and a whole bunch for the outer space version. Can you direct me to where I might find the cards you're talking about? For some reason your publisher page on Drivethru doesn't seem to list every product that lists you as the publisher, so it's hard for me to see exactly what's available.
