Genesys Character Booklet Pages 2-3

*All pictures are for reference only
Presenting the Genesys Character Booklet! This folio-style character sheet is intended for long-term campaigns with lots and lots of space for recording information. In addition, several important rules references, including healing, status effects, encumbrance, etc., are placed in strategic locations, which will surely speed up the game of any player - new or veteran.

MINOR UPDATE 1.4 is live! -- Fixed a couple of typos.

WITH THE MAJOR UPDATE 1.3! A fully form-fillable version is now included!!

This product now includes 3 PDF files:

1. RPGNarco_Genesys_Character_Booklet_PRINT: A printable Genesys Character Booklet. See instructions below. This version also has a customizable skill list and the option to replace both the Genesys logo image (NEW!) and character image.

2. RPGNarco_Genesys_Character_Booklet_PRINT_NO_BG: This is the same exact document with the same features as the previous version - only without the color background.

3. RPGNarco_Genesys_Character_Booklet_FORM-FILLABLE: This is a version of the sheet intended for screens with everything completely editable. See instructions below. You can also print this sheet as it is if you don't want a booklet (just a 4-page Character Sheet).

How to print your own Genesys Character Booklet:

  1. Open the any of the Print versions PDFs in Adobe Acrobat Reader (free-software).
  2. Edit and customize the skill list to match your game-setting.
  3. Optional: Click on the Genesys logo and select a different image appropriate for your setting.
  4. Optional: Click on the character image on the second page and select a different custom character image. You can also print with the included image and just draw on it.
  5. Set you printer to print on both sides of the paper (flip along short side) and print the 4 pages. This usually means that the printer will first print the first and third pages, then ask you to re-insert the paper flipped and continue the printing.
  6. Put the 2 pieces of papers on top one another - top page should have the Main characteristics/skills on the right and the Inventory on the left. The bottom page has the Talents Pyramid on it. Then fold everything in the exact middle to form a booklet.
  7. Using the small black lines as reference, staple the center of the booklet with a couple of staples. I suggest putting the open booklet on a cardboard and punch through it with an open stapler. Then bend the staples' legs with your fingers or something solid.

You got yourself a Genesys Character Booklet!

How to edit your own digital Genesys Character Booklet:

Important note: This is a form-fillable PDF - not an auto-calculating PDF. This means that it will allow you to edit all of the sheet's text entries but it will not calculate dice or skills automatically. You will have to calculate and type in all of the sheets information by yourself.

  1. Open the form-fillable PDF version in Adobe Acrobat Reader.
  2. It is recommended to save the file under a different name for backup purposes.
  3. Edit and customize the skill list to match your game-setting.
  4. Optional: Click on the Genesys logo and select a different image appropriate for your setting.
  5. Click on the character image on the second page and select a different custom character image.
  6. Type in all of the character's information.
IMPORTANT TIP #1: While typing text in Adobe Acrobat, press CTRL+E to open the Text Style Toolbar. This is a crucial tool that will allow you to change the text's font family, size, color and other style options, in most of the fields in this document. This is especially important if you wish to use the GenesysGlyphsAndDice.ttf dice font (recommended) to note specific Genesys dice or symbols. I have already placed all of the Genesys dice and symbols at the bottom of every page so you can easily copy and paste them to other fields. If, after pasting, the font of the dice/symbols changes, simply use the Text Style Bar (CTRL+E) to change the font back to GenesysGlyphsAndDice.ttf.
IMPORTANT TIP #2: When you copy text from other sources (e.g. Talent descriptions from the official PDFs) and paste in this document, it will usually paste the text with all of the styling (font, size, etc.) of the original source. In order to avoid that, I recommend first copying the text into notepad, editing it to your liking, and then copy the text from notepad to this document.
  7. Save often and save backups.

Any tips on how to print this so that each page of the booklet is in the standard paper size?

Any chance of an update that adds fillable fields to the additional skills for the booklet versions?

You mean add fillable fields to the print versions? I will add it to my to do list. I think it can be easily done. Give me a few weeks though ;)

Just printed one out, made the mistake of not double side printing. :D .

This is sooo much better than the character sheets, I am pretty sure my players, who are very new to the game, will love this!

Oh, my only complaint: there isn't any Spell Skills in the list. It isn't a large issue, as I can add it to the custom Skills section, but that means that all 6 slots are filled with my other three customs. Again, not a big issue, just wish I didn't have to use those slots for that.

The entire skills list is customizable so if a specific skill is very common in your setting I'd put it at the top list. But magic is usually a specific skill or two that only a specific player character has - so that's what the additional skills section is for :)
I made a bunch of test characters for several settings and never ran out of space for skills (including the additional section). Let me know if you run out of space for your setting for a specific character.
Just a reminder, there is a section for Favored Skills on the 3rd page that if utilized, the skills on the 1st page are hardly referenced during a session.
Thanks a lot :D

Shouldn't the setting specific rules and wound/strain critical half pages be switched? This would make the cover the main character sheet, the first open book double page combat, the 2nd open spread talents and the third everything else? Or am I just following the folding/assembly instructions wrong?

Hi Nic and thank you. I think you may have printed the wrong file (the form-fillable file instead of the Print version) or missed a step in the printing instructions.
You can see more images and details at this page:

Let me know if you are still having issues - I think I'll make a video tutorial.

It was the file. Why the difference in set up for the form fillable and print though?

The print version is intended to be printed on both sides of the paper and then folded in the middle to form a booklet - the left side of the second page ends up being next to the right side of the third page and vice versa.
The form fillable version is intended for screens so the pages are not flipped.

I see. Its a difference of use intention. I have several VERY poor handwriting players in my groups so I tend to use form-fillable sheets so that they can be printed legibly. Ok

Ahhh I understand now. I can add a fully form-fillable version intended for printing a booklet. I didn't think it would be of much use because you need to add a bunch of text from session to session anyway (talents and such) and I didn't imagine someone would print a new booklet each session. But nice to have options anyway :D I'll work on it.

So little changes from one session to another. I've just always found it useful to form fill as much as possible, and then fill in the rest in pencil for several sessions, until my sheet starts getting eraser heavy, then update. I agree printing a new booklet each session seems crazy.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
