Take the Edge fanzine, #0 aka Issue Zero

This is the World's First-ever published issue of the Take the Edge magazine. Take the Edge is an officially licensed fanzine containing material for the Over the Edge RPG, the 3rd edition. Supah Dupah Fuuun, ain't it? Published by Coming Through RPGs. Made by devoted Over the Edge RPG fan Krisse Tuominen who is also, eg. indie RPG designer & publisher.

Because this is not a full fanzine issue and consists mostly of the guidelines to submit your material (to be published in forthcoming issues) and other dull & boring information, this issue goes under the umbrella term: pre-issue. Therefore this is called issue Zero or Zero Number. And in a number-crunching way: #1.

This is Pay What You Want publication so You can get it free, or literally, pay what you want for it.

Welcome to the Al Amarja. Thank you for your consent.

Hopefully, your trip was comfortable and your stay will be

long and prosperous.

Come on in, take the Edge, don't be afraid.

Take the Edge, the Official unofficial OVER THE EDGE, the 3RD Edition RPG Fanzine

It's OFFICIALLY Licenced and therefore Official product. I like to play with words, concepts, and such so that's why "unofficial" is used. I mean, the magazine is a mix of an RPG product and an in-game object. And the product truly is Officially Licensed in our world, and therefore Official magazine, but it is not Officially Accepted by D'ubainnes in Over the Edge, so therefore the "unofficial". Yeah, a bit whacky, silly, odd, meta-game and such, but this is the Way we do things in Al Amarja ;-)

Or maybe on Al Amarja, we tend to do and write things a bit differently? ;-)

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
