Wave Man: Samurai RPG

Explore the most interesting and dramatic era of Japanese history with Wave Man. take on the role of a masterless samurai as you try to make your way in the world. Encounter deadly ninja, powerful scholars and otherworldly kitsune, tanuki, and other creatures. Or play as these beings from folklore and see how well you navigate the world of men.

Thematically inspired by FGU's Bushido, Wave Man runs on a modified version of the rules from Nate Treme's Tunnel Goons. You can have a character made up and ready to run in just a few minutes. And Wave Man supports SOLO play right out of the box thanks to its random quest generators.

Combat is fast and lethal. There's an element of tactical decision-making in the vein of games like Sekiro Shadows Die Twice. One roll of 2d6 keys off several abilities, allowing you to determine your success as well as any enemy abilities with just one throw of the dice. If things aren't going your way, activate KABUKI MODE to gain great power at the potential cost of your own life.

Featuring evocative, bold art, Wave Man is a unique samurai RPG.

Best of all, the core book includes a full-length adventure, The Deadly Village, by legendary writer Eddy Webb! This story features dramatic decisions and conflicts of honor, loyalty and morality. It allows players to choose their fate, and contains multiple seeds to create a continuing campaign.

Hi Jacob, you write Heavy Weapons do lots of damage, but you do not write how they impact the MoS/MoF. How much more damage do they do?
It is a real nice game and works very well for solo play.

First of all, what a fabulous little game you have going here. I am appreciating the 5 Elements worked into the gameplay as well. I had been tinkering with adding some kind of system like that to Ironsworn. Your version of the 5 Elements has given me fresh ideas.

Secondly a request. Would it be possible to get this as a PDF where a majority of the pages have a white background? Your artwork is fantastic and I would keep the grey on those pages where it's white-on-grey or otherwise affects that art, but it would be nice to have a version that is non-ink draining.

Jory B... I don't regret my full-price purchase.

Question about the Bushi.

When discussing techniques, it says you gain one in your school to start. And when training in a technique, you roll D6 based on the stance. Is that D6 roll a permanent feature of your class?

If not, do you roll that D6 each combat, each time you gain an ability, or at some other point?

That D6 roll is the black die, or element die. I'm going to revise that section to make it clearer. All skill and attack rolls are 2d6, one of which is black and the other is white. In addition to determining success and failure, the colors of the dice key off of different abilities. The white die activates enemy abilities if it rolls equal to or under the NPC's trigger number. The black die is what you check for your techniques.

As an example, you're fighting a ninja who has a DC of 10 and a trigger number of 4. Your school teaches you how to be more effective in the Void stance. You roll 2d6 to attack them, getting 7, 3 on the black die and 4 on the white die. You have Strength of 3, which increases your roll to 10. This is a hit. But it's more than that. The 4 on the black die (element Die), gives you +1 Zanshin (like hero points, void points, what have you), and the white die's result of 4 means that the ninja activates whatever it's ability happens to be.

With one roll you get three...See more

This is relevant to my interests, but I'm very unlikely to buy without a preview. Could you possibly put one up?

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
